  1. Angkor Wat – Siem Reap, Cambodia; Angkor Wat was once the largest Hindu temple in the 12th century. It later turned into a Buddhist temple and is now the largest religious monument in the world as well as one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia. This incredible structure is made out of over 5 million tons of sandstone and every aspect of the exterior and interior is hand carved including gorgeous illustrations from ancient Indian texts
  2. Machu Picchu, Peru; The Lost City of the Incas was built in the 14th century and is an incredible city built on and around mountains. UNESCO officially named Machu Picchu a World Heritage Site in 1983, calling it "an absolute masterpiece of architecture and unique testimony to the Inca civilization."

Taj Mahal – Agra, India; Mughal emperor Shah Jahan had a massive mausoleum built out of white marble between the years of 1631 and 1648 in memory of his favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal, who passed away in 1631. The Taj Mahal is located on the Yamuna river and has calligraphic inscriptions and verses from the Qu'ran incrusted in the walls, gates lined with copper (originally lined with silver) and is one of the finest architectural and artistic achievements.

Petra World Heritage Site – Wadi Musa, Jordan; Located between the Red Sea and the Dead Sea, this incredible city is surrounded by mountains and is essentially half-built and half-carved into the rock. According to UNESCO, Petra is one of the world's richest and largest archaeological sites that used to be the major caravan centre for aromatic spices, rich silks and exotic incense during the Hellenistic and Roman times.
  5. Bayon Temple, Cambodia; The Bayon, was built in the late 12th or early 1th century by King Jayavarman VII as the official Buddhist temple of Cambodia. It's known for the over 2,000 huge stone faces that are carved into the exterior of the building. 
  6. Great Cathedral & Mosque – Cordoba, Spain; What used to be a medieval Islamic mosque is now a Catholic cathedral and an incredible mix of architecture. Walk inside the Great Cathedral and Mosque, and marvel at the double arches and over 800 columns of onyx, marble, jasper and granite which support over 400 horseshoe arches with arch-stones in striped colours.

Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood – St. Petersburg, Russia; When I think of Russia, I automatically picture the multi-colored exterior of The Church of Our Savior on the Spilled Blood in St. Petersburg. Built between 1883 and 1907, on the very spot where Emperor Alexander II was assassinated in 1881, this church is intricately decorated on the exterior and interior with detailed mosaics and artistic details from some of the most famous Russian artists from the past.

The city is completely surrounded with 6365 feet of defensive walls and forts that were built in partiality back in the 9th century.  It was originally built to help resist the Saracens who tried to overtake the city. in the 9th century.

It's worth a mention that this town square is just as large and magnificent as St. Mark's Square in Venice.
